How to Prepare
Here are some tips and tricks to help prepare your swimmer!
Is your child comfortable with water over their face?
TRY starting in the bath by having them sit and say the following in an upbeat & happy tone: “Ready? 1,2,3” and gently pour a little water over the head/face. This is a tool to help train the child to hold their breath when their face is exposed to water.
Does your child feel comfortable putting their head/face under the water?
TRY by having them practice with goggles in the bathtub where they feel safe. Have them lay on their stomachs in the bath and look at stickers or toys on the bottom of the bathtub. This is a big goal we have during lessons.
Does your child feel comfortable swimming on their stomachs?
We also love to see kids lay on their stomachs and kick while looking down. They can practice this in the bathtub as well (with supervision.)
